  1.                                  METRO FILE AREA

  3.         The Metro File Area will let you download programs to run on your
  4. own computer.  It will also let you upload programs for others to use.
  5.         The files are placed in several different areas, according to what
  6. type of file they are.  Some areas may be GENERAL, GRAPHICS, SOUNDS, UTILITY,
  7. etc.  When uploading, Metro will ask what area to place the file in.  When
  8. downloading, you choose the area you are interested in.
  9.         Many files will be compressed into archive form.  These will require
  10. you to run a de-compressing or un-arc'ing program before you can use them.
  11. Among the archiving programs are ARC, LHARC, PKAZIP, ZOO, WARP, etc.  Files
  12. that have been archived will have names ending with ARC, LHZ, ZIP, ZOO, WRP,
  13. etc.  Compressing programs saves disk space for the bbs and cuts down on
  14. transmission time.  Most Amiga programs must be archived before transmitting
  15. or they will not run when received.
