- METRO FILE AREA
-
- The Metro File Area will let you download programs to run on your
- own computer. It will also let you upload programs for others to use.
- The files are placed in several different areas, according to what
- type of file they are. Some areas may be GENERAL, GRAPHICS, SOUNDS, UTILITY,
- etc. When uploading, Metro will ask what area to place the file in. When
- downloading, you choose the area you are interested in.
- Many files will be compressed into archive form. These will require
- you to run a de-compressing or un-arc'ing program before you can use them.
- Among the archiving programs are ARC, LHARC, PKAZIP, ZOO, WARP, etc. Files
- that have been archived will have names ending with ARC, LHZ, ZIP, ZOO, WRP,
- etc. Compressing programs saves disk space for the bbs and cuts down on
- transmission time. Most Amiga programs must be archived before transmitting
- or they will not run when received.
